Wendy Simon doesn't sing Jazz around much in clubs these days. She's been spending her time teaching music and raising her twins. Worthwhile pursuits, but the Philly jazz scene is much poorer for it. She recently revealed that she IS singing classic rock n' roll with a group in the North Western 'burbs, so you might catch her somewhere.
Classically trained, with an enviable range, but with an unerring sense of swing, Wendy is a dramatic singer. Whether interpreting a balled or scatting at high velocity, Wendy Simon is not a singer you cannot ignore. She's always been my favorite, and I miss seeing her terribly.
She was part of the Tuxedo Junction / 52nd street duo in the seventies along with Eric Shaw.
