prieto

Roger Prieto, more than any musician I can name, has paid his dues.   For years, Roger was a fixture at every jam session in Philly, whatever the neighborhood.  Natalie’s, Ortlieb’s, 23rd Street, Barb and Barbara’s (and other clubs I wouldn’t go near) have all been witness to his steady growth.   If you don’t get out much, you might remember him as a young, eager kid standing respectfully next to Bootsie Barnes, taking a tenuous chrorus or two, and modestly dismissing any praise you might offer him.

Well, Roger is still a humble guy, but he’s finally coming into his own as a leader and sideman on the Philly scene.   Mr. Prieto has joined the ranks of Philly’s serious players. Bootsie   Roger is a serious trumpet player, and has worked hard to get where he is.  Check him out !!

Roger and Mike Boone did a great job on Live at Ortlieb’s –  A Double CD which highlights some of the best Philly players to grace this excellent club (though now Jazz is limited to Tuesday nights.)

Roger is doing a lot of teaching these days. I’ve gotten reports that he is a great brass teacher (from students as well as pleased parents).  If someone you know is looking for an experienced and patient teacher, drop me an e-mail, and I’ll put them in touch with Roger.
