Klink

Dr. Watson Klincewicz (better known as Klink in the music world) is my dad.  He's pictured here in the wartime years where he served his country playing in Officers Clubs. On piano is Loonis McGlohon (now somewhat famous) who first turned Klink on to Bop.

Klink started out as a classical xylophonist, but turned to vibes after hearing Lionel Hampton as a child raised in Conshohocken.  He took lessons at the Wurlitzer store in Philly and even had a "kid band" radio show.

He developed a unique five mallet technique which is illustrated here in a sound Byte of "Sue's Blues" (check the Jukebox), my first composition at the age of 17.  I'm on drums, and Tom Lawton is on piano here. Klink is unfortunately in a nursing home now, and unable to play.
