The H. Factor

Percussionist/trumpeter Rob H. Henderson is the man behind The H FactorThis hard-bopping Philly trio consists of Rob H, pianist Rich Budesa, and bassists Pete Colangelo.  Rob, who has played with many Philly greats, including Hank Mobley and Shirly Scott formed this group in 1983.  They have played the Mellon Jazz Fest and the Welcome America Festival, as well as area clubs.

Their debut album, Less is More (HH-1071), on Philly Breakdown Records adds Philly favorites Rob Roth on Tenor, Bob Budesa on guitar and guest pianist Ray Grant on a few cuts.

The local sound is truly embodied in this group.  See if you don't hear echoes of  Philly Joe Jones with McCoy tyner in Rob and Rich's interplay on "Caravan"

These cats swing like only Philadelphians can!  If you're a fan of hard bop (and you probably wouldn't be hanging around here if you weren't) be sure to catch them if you see them listed anywhere !
